What is a water bath

A water bath is necessary for controlling the heating process of products and substances sensitive to high temperatures. The products are heated evenly in it, so nothing burns or sticks to the walls and bottom of the containers. Due to the absence of overheating, the ingredients retain their beneficial properties.

How to make a water bath at home

To make a water bath at home, you will need two pots of such diameter that one can fit snugly into the other without sinking. Water is poured into the larger pot, and the smaller one is placed inside. A little water should be poured into the bottom pot, and the products should be placed in the top one. Cooking is done at a slow boil of the water in the bottom pot.

Application of the water bath in cooking

In cooking, the water bath is used for melting and dissolving products such as chocolate, butter, crystallized honey, preparing desserts and sauces, as well as for keeping the temperature of dishes for a long time. In modern conditions, various multicookers and rice cookers also serve as water baths.
